The District Six Museum is a founder member of the International Coalition of Historical Site Museums of Conscience. The Coalition is a network of historic site museums that are located in many different parts of the world, each at its own stage of development, and each presenting and interpreting a broad range of historic issues, events and people.

Members of the Coalition hold in common the belief that it is the obligation of historic sites to assist the public in drawing connections between the history of the sites and contemporary implications. They view stimulating dialogue on pressing social issues and promoting humanitarian and democratic values as a primary function.

The Coalition has assisted in raising the District Six Museum’s international profile, and helped us to expand on our museum network.
